Lyon, France (PRWEB) September 29, 2006 -- The Competitiveness Institute (TCI), the leading international organization of cluster practitioners will open its ninth annual conference Clusters2006 on cluster development and innovation systems on October 9, 2006, in Lyon, France. It will have new development in cluster governance and business involvement as a theme.
Clusters2006 is hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Lyon in partnership with the Région Rhône-Alpes, le Grand Lyon and the French Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Industry, MINEFI.
This year the focus is on governance and companies as cornerstones of cluster initiatives, as it is the cornerstone of the emergence, sustainability and success of clusters in developed nations.
"Faced with the globalization of markets the developed nations must re-position their activities in the higher value added areas, with more innovation, more value creation, and more proactive initiatives the next decade," says Frederic Miribel, Project Leader at Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Lyon.
"But to retain their competitiveness this re-positioning must take the development needs and specific strengths of the emerging countries into account. To be successful developed nations must adapt to and support new strengths in developing countries, while at the same time push a more harmonious life environment and guaranteeing sustainable development."
"We believe competitiveness policies must be implemented with partnerships between industrialized and emerging countries. Success can only be achieved if the worlds of business, politics and academia work smoothly together".
At the conference academics, business people, policy makers, consultants, and analysts will meet to have in-depth discussions, workshops and plenary sessions on economic development and cluster-based development initiatives. They will share ideas, build alliances and explore the best practices of economic development.
Every year TCI organizes a global conference where our members meet to exchange experience, collect information and share best practices on innovation system development, cluster initiatives and competitiveness worldwide. TCI also organizes regional workshops and symposia on various hot topics. The conferences highlight the members' expertise and TCI as a facilitator for competitively challenging projects.
